Company History

Sue Shekut founded Working Well Massage after years in the corporate world as a technical writer and instructional designer. Pursuing a career by day and a Master’s Degree in business by night, she knew all too well the stresses and demands of a busy life. Long hours spent working in front of the computer left her sore, painful, and fatigued. In the mid-1990s, she sought relief from a chiropractor who introduced her to massage and ergonomics. Its ease, holistic nature, and personal success immediately appealed to her. In fact, Sue was so impressed with the benefits of massage therapy that she decided to pursue it as a full-time career. After completing her studies at massage school, Sue combined chair massage and injury rehabilitation using massage therapy and designed her own practice. The result? Working Well Massage. The goal? To help people affected by stress, chronic pain and repetitive task injuries.

Sue opened the Working Well Massage Station at Whole Foods Market Gold Coast location in 2001, providing shoppers with easy access to quick, affordable massage, and massage therapists with a means to meet new clients. After great success with the chair massage staion, Working Well Massage has expanded to bring chair massage to the workplace and at special events, working with scores of Chicago-area companies that want to help their staff combat stress and muscle pain.

As a former corporate worker, Sue understands the need for punctuality, reliability, and professionalism. As a massage therapist, she also understands how to help people deal with chronic stress and pain. As a manager and business owner, Sue knows how to match the best therapist with each client. This understanding is what helps make Working Well Massage responsive and desirable to both corporate clients and individuals. Whether at the Whole Foods Market Massage Stations, in the workplace, or at special events, Working Well Massage helps people feel better…faster.
